Indicating a possible move toward the express logistics business, Lufthansa Cargo has taken complete ownership in expedited shipping company time:matters, purchasing majority ownership (51 percent) from Aheim Capital Funds & time:matters Management. Lufthansa stated that, despite full ownership, the business will be maintained as an independent company.
Time:matters offers time-critical, same-day shipments via air, rail or road. The company also recently saw Christian Mörtl assume the role of managing director of operations and finance.
“Time:matters has established itself in recent years as the leading specialist for same-day delivery and emergency logistics in Europe,” said Peter Gerber, CEO and chairman of the executive board of Lufthansa Cargo. “We are aiming to grow our business in the special segment as well,” Gerber added.
The expedited shipping company recently linked with United Airlines to offer more same-day transport options to the United States. The move increased locations from the 16 existing Lufthansa connections to a total of 48 stations across the U.S.
