A new cargo facility in Guadalajara is increasing Yusen Logistics\u2019 airfreight forwarding network in Mexico, featuring a 16,000-square-foot warehouse co-located at the branch.
\nThe Guadalajara branch, which opened on Aug. 1, will handle \u201cincreasing demand for logistics capability in Mexico, particularly in areas like Guadalajara, which has become a critical hub for airfreight shipments from Asia,\u201d said Jordan Dewart, president of Yusen Logistics Mexico. \u201cStrategically located, the new branch complements our existing operations in Mexico City, Celaya and at the border in Laredo, Texas, and allows us to provide our automotive and other manufacturing customers with just-in-time delivery capability.\u201d
\nGuadalajara, the largest manufacturing region in Mexico, has experienced a surge of automotive manufacturing in the last decade, and also has a large electronics sector. Its airport hosts the second-largest airfreight terminal in the country.
\nYusen Logistics\u2019 facility is located 10 minutes from the airport, allowing it to reach customers in the automotive, electronic, textile, chemical, mining, furniture and spirits industries.
\nYusen is no stranger to the Mexican logistics business, Dewart said. \u201cWe have been conducting business in Mexico for almost 20 years,\u201d he added. The 3PL firm recently launched an Automotive Logistics division in the Central Mexican city of Celaya, and is also building a 60,000-square-foot logistics center just outside of Guadalajara in Bajio, which will be completed later this year.
