Maternity and child-centric retailer Pr\u00e9natal has extended its contract with Geodis\u2019 Contract Logistics line of business, extending their e-commerce collaboration until June 2020. Under the terms, Pr\u00e9natal\u2019s retail and e-commerce stock will be combined and stored in the Geodis\u2019 distribution center in Almere, the Netherlands.
\nGeodis first started working for Pr\u00e9natal in 2009, handling inventory. Now, as a result of developments in Pr\u00e9natal\u2019s market strategy, it has fully merged e-commerce and retail logistics into Geodis\u2019 network.
\n\u201cAs a retailer, your stock is your most important asset,\u201d says Ardjan van den Blonk, manager of supply chain at Netherland-based Pr\u00e9natal. \u201cYou want to serve your consumers as well as possible, regardless of where they make their purchase \u2013 through a store or a webshop. An omni-channel inventory will prevent stock from being unnecessarily located at different sites.\u201d
\nJoop Mastenbroek, CFO at Geodis, noted that combined stock is rare. \u201cMerging retail and e-commerce stock doesn\u2019t simply move physical inventory \u2013 it also has an impact on all processes and systems.\u201d
